MAM 2013 Conference Program

The annual Maine Archives and Museums conference brings together Maine’s collecting institutions to exchange ideas, tackle challenges, and broaden skills.  Whether you are a seasoned museum professional, volunteer, archivist, or the only staff member of a small historical society, the MAM 2013 conference program has something for everyone.  Over 100 museum and archive professionals attended last year’s conference to find inspiration, motivation and professional development opportunities.  The conference will not only inspire you to jumpstart your mission, it is also the perfect place to network and join a generous community willing to help you get to that next step.

Get ready for a full day of professional development opportunities including:

  • Four blocks for breakout sessions
  • Networking lunches
  • Special Tours
  • Poster Displays
  • Exhibition of vendors and services specific to your field

This year’s theme is “Recharge Your Mission:  Ideas to Ignite and Inspire!”  The Program Committee has put together a variety of inspirational sessions and practical workshops to help you rise above day-to-day challenges and generate new ideas for inspiring stakeholders, motivating volunteers and members, securing new sources of revenue and recharging your organization.

Sessions will include these topics making waves in the world of museums and archives:

  • Unique collaborations
  • Innovative fundraising
  • Compelling educational programming
  • Savvy media planning
  • Effective grant writing
  • Interactive values assessments
  • Successful internship programs
  • and more!

Featuring Keynote by:  New York Times bestselling author Tilar Mazzeo, professor of British and comparative literature, material culture studies, and literary and cultural theory at Colby College.  Sponsored by HistoryIT
