Let's Preserve Organic Collections--FREE!

Presented in partnership with L.C. Bates Museum and funded by a grant from the Institute for Museums and Library Services.

Presented by Ron Harvey of Tuckerbrook Conservation, this workshop is designed to build knowledge about the special needs of caring for organic collections from leather bags to mounted animals and from wooden objects to textiles. It will also touch on the possible health issues involved in caring for scientific collections and collections will mold issues. The workshop will address what museum staff can do and when to call a conservator. The conservator will answer questions about your specific collection care issues. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs of objects in their collections they would like the conservator to discuss. The project will include a tour of the conservation project work at the L.C.Bates Museum.  Bring a lunch to enjoy.
