Are you a highly motivated, collaborative, inclusive, and enthusiastic
librarian who enjoys working with manuscript collections, objects, and rare
books?

Do you love processing manuscript collections and teaching students how to
engage with primary resources?

We want you to join our Special Collections team, based at the Portland
campus of USM! The Librarian values an innovative student-centered approach to providing public services and research consultations with a special focus on Special Collections’ role in instruction and outreach to the
university and community. The position provides technical services for
Special Collections, which consists of rare book collections and manuscript
collections documenting the University as well as the African American,
Jewish, and LGBTQ+ communities in Maine.  Duties include processing
manuscript collections, the University Archives, and overseeing print
cataloging/processing. The Librarian works as part of a close-knit team to
promote and publicize Special Collections offerings, overall goals, and
projects. The Librarian will be responsible for LibGuides associated with
their liaison area and resource guides to department materials as needed.
The incumbent is expected to be professionally curious and engaged on
campus, within the library community, and the consortiums in which USM
Libraries participate.
