Board of Directors

MAM's board of directors is comprised of representatives from museums and archives of varying sizes, disciplines, locations, and missions. Board members and officers are elected at the annual meeting.

Board members can serve up to three successive two-year terms. Officer terms are one year in length.

About MAM

The Association of Maine Archives and Museums (MAM) is the only professional association representing museums, archives, historical societies, and other collecting institutions in the State of Maine.

MAM's Mission

MAM actively stimulates the flow of knowledge and support among organizations and individuals in Maine who identify, collect, interpret, and/or provide access to materials relating to history, living collections, and culture, in order to strengthen and promote all collecting institutions in Maine. We seek to fulfill this purpose by providing continuing professional education; providing a forum for the exchange of information among individuals and institutions; facilitating collaboration with other organizations and individuals that represent allied disciplines; and promoting member institutions and businesses to the public.

For Our Members

We offer special benefits and resources for our members, including a quarterly newsletter; discounted registration rates to events like professional development workshops and an annual conference; forums for posting your news, events and jobs/internships; discounts on goods and services, and access to MAM's member directory.

For the Public

Find a museum to visit or an archive to explore here in Maine! Read newsevent listings, and job/internship announcements from Maine's collecting institutions. Follow MAM on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram to get plugged into our community.

Executive Director

Lucinda Hannington, Executive Director
executivedirector@mainemuseums.org

A social historian by training, Lucy's passion for the past developed early, perusing a collection of family photos and letters dating to before the Civil War, clambering in and out of cellar holes all over Vermont, and visiting museums all over New England. Her first museum employment came in the form of an internship at the Charles Dickens House Museum in London. In 2010 she moved to Portland to pursue an MA in American and New England Studies at the University of Southern Maine. During her time in grad school, Lucy had the opportunity to work in several historic sites around Portland including the Portland Observatory, Eastern Cemetery, the Osher Map Library, Maine Historical Society, and Victoria Mansion. These days, when she's not working for MAM, Lucy fills her time volunteering for the Mechanics' Hall Library, baking, reading, or lounging with her dog.
