Pejepscot History Center (PHC) in Brunswick, Maine, is seeking a Collections and Research Intern for the Spring 2026 semester. This position offers hands-on experience working with PHC’s extensive local history collections and the contents of our Victorian-era house museum.
The intern will be trained by PHC staff to catalog archival and museum collections using our online database and will research and write a specialized interpretive tour of the Skolfield-Whittier House. This tour will focus on the political activism of the women who lived there, providing a unique opportunity to explore a multigenerational legacy of civic engagement ranging from women’s suffrage to the election of Maine’s first female U.S. senator, Margaret Chase Smith.
This internship is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students studying history, museum studies, gender studies, political science, or a related field.
The internship requires a commitment of two days per week (15 hours total), with some flexibility in scheduling. Most responsibilities must be completed onsite at PHC headquarters in Brunswick, although limited research and writing tasks may be completed remotely.
