Institution description
The mission of the Vanceboro Historical Society’s (VHS) is to understand and preserve the history of Vanceboro, Maine and the surrounding area by collecting, preserving, curating, and displaying historical items and artifacts, researching stories, hosting speakers, and developing educational programs.
VHS serves those interested in the history of the town and its contributions to the international railroad, lumbering, river drives, and sporting camps; the significance of northern Washington County as the homeland and summer gathering place for the Passamaquoddy people; and the social and economic importance of the international waters of the Chiputneticook Lake chain and the St. Croix River.
